Khristian Mizzi and Frank Pearce are on a mission of music. They bought a short bus and are going across the country in what they are calling "the festival art bus tour". They are charging passengers a fee to cover gas and insurance and all, but they are doing it and if you can't get behind that then i want you in front of me where i can keep my weasel spotting eyes on you. The bus left Vancouver on June 18 for Montreal but we got them down at the Super Robertson supper show on the 16th and set them up with ace drummer Shawn Killaly and the trio killed it:
And then Super Robertson went up with Shawn and Frank and did that thing he does... pick all the wrong songs and sing like a drunken goat.
I remember before the show it looked like it was just going to be Shawn and myself... (back to first person) and i said in my head "don't worry it will all work out"... which it did. Khristian had a heavy draw from the hostel community of world travellers which made for a great show. people who are travelling are always very interested in seeing things and embracing things... which i guess that is why they are travellers. They are new, open and excited and you can feel that... not to say that others are scene swilling ignoramuses... but you know what i mean.
there's good things happening.
on Wednesday June 23 we have the lovely and talented Genny Trigo:
and then Super R and Genny:
good times, come one come all... it's free, cold beer and good food.
