Aaron Joyce could win a Supper Show gold medal at then next award ceremony for his performance this week. He was sick, but he came anyway and played all night improvising the whole way. That is the kind of spirit we need around here.
First up Sam Cartwright, Alvaro Rojas and Aaron Joyce played some jazz instrumentals and were then joined by S. Robertson the raconteaur. This was all fantastic stuff.
Then 21 tandem Repeats played with Aaron sitting in for Willingdon Black. As the old adage goes "you can never replace a talent like Willingdon Black, but if you have to you need that player to come up big"... I believe it was a certain HNIC commentator that said something like that replacing "Willingdon Black" with "Mats Sundin". Getting off topic. The band played the classic "Chawmin's head", an old Knockin' Dog number as well as some classic 21TR tunes with Alvaro calling out the changes on the fly.
It seemed like Robertson was eager to get on his vacation as he was more distracted than usual.
There was a ceremonial passing of the torch to Jeff Younger, who will host the next 2 supper shows, and as promised Robertson choked Younger in some bizarre ritual.
One day maybe Robertson will get his choking.
