never really thought of attacking the blog this way
but more importantly
NOTE to SELF
remind Fire-Man that he is NEVER to play horn if a guitar or bass are being played at a supper show... exception permitted and encouraged when the LFM are booked to play.
and on the positive side i have "written" the horn into the "robertson theater" portion of the evening, which i believe might provide the opportunity for the horn to shine.
OK
The fine people from Canada Lynx Records and S/N Ratio put on a free show every week in Vancouver's best live music venue, The Railway Club. The only rule is to have fun.

September 23 re-cap
On September 23 the SRSS was graced with the presence of The Land of Deborah. To her left, in his old spot, was King Willingdon Black. King Willingdon Black, who seems to be trying to get away from the name "Willingdon Black" for some odd reason, was doing his thing and sounding stellar as per usual... except of course usual can become unusual with time. I had a lot of people ask me why Willingdon Black doesn't play with 21 Tandem repeats anymore, to which of course i reply "there is a band called 21 Tandem Repeats that plays". Perhaps it's time for a new SRSS poster or something like that... but did anybody ever pay attention to a poster anyway?
For the record 21TR did play a gig a few months back but it was kind of last minute and required the 11th hour hiring of an unknown yet excellent drummer... not the ideal situation for a proper reunion.
speaking of proper reunions we did spank a version of "Blue skies" with LOD and JL "big dinner" S at the end of the night. In the end i'm sure that if Willingdon Black is concerned about anything it is that his name has been mentioned 5 times in 3 paragraphs.
It's almost like the original SR chronicles from the old Roadbed site... Ahh the good old days where boys would be boys and men would be men and it can get harder to describe when you don't really have it... like another broken soul who never made it to the end of the Road bed time in the city of fallen heroes... whoa getting way to far into the inside jokes here on this blog that apparently is to serve some other communal purpose.
Tomorrow September 30 there will be cake... and some non musical Robertson theater, and a spoken word piece by pockets on her survival of SWINE FLU... plus more great things...

hot damn i sent out the email before the blog was written
all right the question is.. what key piece of information was wrong with the email that was sent out to The SRSS faithful. The answer would be the day... there is no September 21 2009... but there is an October 21 2009, so if one were to check on their handy desktop calendar with the magic click of a Mouse, and one forgot to make sure the Month was dialed in correctly, one could then resemble a small hoarse. i go back to Mr. Helkima's grade 7 class... he would say "when you assume things you become an..." and then he would underline the first three letters of the word in question.
I'm not really a re-send email kind of guy, and i assume that anyone unfortunate enough to get a weekly email about the same fucking show for 4 years and counting can either figure it out or ignore as per usual. But if perhaps somebody read that and in their despair invented a time machine that goes to a parallel universe and ends up seeing the show that was accidentally listed, please send in a review for the blog... i would be interested to see how the SR songbook holds up in another dimension...
Ok, where were we
last week it was the stalwart JLS and myself... remembering when i first met JLS all those years ago... it was through this girl Catherine... JLS was on a grassy Knol, i believe plucking a banjo. Probably like 15 years ago. But last week we were on stage at the Railway, a once untouchable venue, all alone with a drum kit a guitar and amp and a few Boss pedals... Going over the tape, we did pretty good when you consider all the variables... the idea being that the leader should consider the variables before he begins his experiments, is what you are all thinking I am sure... but have no fear we have everything under control around here... what that show was all about was a method we call di-shifter reverbulance.
Di-Shifter reverbulance of course is where the artist uses 4 of the 7 main shockras to stimulate inner spiritual growth with special focus on the di-cogulant Alfrezzo clause.
It's kind of like simple physics... poke the beast and it shall bleed, and with thy blood nurture thy bless id child.

Clive is King
And then the was the Super Robertson Supper show, with ace axeman Jeff Younger, Dr. Kristian Naso and JLS the destroyer.
It was like Jazz night at the SRSS early in the evening:
and then rock night
and the Hey Rock Night
and then it was Hammer time... lets just say i was standing outside Gigi's pizza @ 1:30 am trying to rally a crew when i should have been in bed... no worries we found pizza on commercial but i really could have used a bit of the old Sim Special sauce, at that moment in time... a smart Canadian man wouldn't have accepted staying on the street at that moment after all we went through.

Last week at the SRSS... AKA the "Diner" show as Cam and Jesse call it, a fine show was had for an eager group of listeners. There were the usual "poop" jokes, and Jesse even read a book on the subject, a children's book about a mole who takes a poo on the head and sets out on a journey to find out who did "that" to his head.
It's an actual book here
Cam and Jesse never fail.
Next week, or tomorrow for that matter we have vancouver's ace axeman Jeff Younger, to stomp down some stuff, as well as goat robertson.
