But now there is a maniac behind me going through things saying words like "cleanse" and "throw out" and "I don't want to move all this crap with us"... which can be very hard on a mind like mine. We happen to be talking about the early years of the SRSS VSH tape collection, that i actually think i might need if i were to say... try to make a documentary about the SRSS. Perhaps it would be better to throw the bastards away and just move on with a clean slate calling a failure a failure and not having somebody mad at me for having all this useless junk that i "never use". Kind of busy the last few years for some reason, so archiving artistic adventures for good or ill, has kind of been on the back seat. It's all i can do to make the show, which perhaps is my first mistake, the second mistake is playing it, and the third mistake is trying to document it's very existence. Clearly it's not important, we live in a town obsessed with calling itself "no fun city" and harping on all the things that don't happen. And then every once in a while some megalomaniac comes along and thinks what he is doing is so important that he has to analyze and document it and then put it on the Internet as his "own personal vanity project". None the less i know there is some fine footage of a band jamming and then being joined on stage by some long haired bearded hippie blowing into a large wooden horn, or a drummer with glasses thrashing away on many different rhythms at various intervals... and if we are going to make a film, we need to teach the lessons.
Probably just best to throw the bastards out... what i really need to do is get the hell away from... but you know me i like to bury myself on as many levels as possible.
What happened last week you ask? OK how bout i pretend you ask and then carry on... Cam and Jesse come correct... i was kind of late for the show due to the insanity of life and the certain knowledge that i didn't have to make it on time... actually all logic screamed at me to skip the show all together, but i went down, cause that's the way i roll. I have to say Cam and Jesse put on one fine show... the place was packed and the entertainment was very tasteful. Shall we say "they came correct". It's always easier to play in front of a full house... which is easier to get in November when the sun is down and it's raining so the idea of catching a sunset on a beach is off the list and going down to the super Robertson Super Show is far more palatable. But you can't choose your audience, so when you get a good one swing for the fence. I came in the door and JLS was working the board like the seasoned pro he is, to my left stood Super Steve... i mean right... Super Steve was not working the door he was leaning against the back bar enjoying the festivities. Then i ran into Andrew and we talked music and hockey on the way to the back bar to quench the old thirst. The show was going strong and no performers were in the toilet... they were on stage playing great art, singing killer, strumming strong... keeping it real family like. A packed house and there wasn't even a Facebook event announcement... How can that be?
You know I'm just busting balls, I give it to Cam and Jesse from time to time, so i think it's only fair to give high praise when they do really great. Great banter, great playing, great songs... somebody call Vegas!
My daughter.. well the oldest, is getting into reading an writing and has posted notices all over our yard (thumb tacked to fences and trees) asking if anybody wants to join a "club' she is trying to start... there are some requirements... you need to know how to write, is one of them. So i asked her how it was going and she replied "not very well"... apparently she only got one reply and it was from herself and she had to answer "no" to the question "can you write" because apparently she keeps doing everything wrong.
Pretty funny, but then i thought "Chip off the old block"... weird ideas that most people want no part of, advertising at great effort at all the wrong places, Bizarre requirements that one believes they themselves are not fit to serve with... Next thing you know she will be commenting on her own website or itunes page under some "Parrishberg" alias pointing out the shortcomings of each project. Never lose the comedy of the big picture people... life as we know it is a fast food industry and we are being fleeced of our money, our time, and our freedom... don't let go the comedy and the spirit of just doing things.
Walk in the woods while we still have woods, listen to what you really like musically... there is tonnes of great music out there... don't believe the hype, and if the heard is moving in one direction go the other way.
OK
